The Academy Award nominations were announced this morning, and it was no surprise that Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, garnered a nod in the Best Picture category. And, Natalie herself was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Natalie Portman is at the top of her game this year, and it shows. Did you see her in that beautiful honeysuckle pink gown? Honeysuckle is predicted to be the top color of 2011, and for good reason. I can see bridesmaids across the country wearing similar gowns this spring. Natalie is just glowing in this particular shade of pink (and it’s not just because she’s pregnant!)
So, what does this all mean for weddings in 2011? Well, I foresee a sharp increase in brides and bridesmaids adorned in airy plumes and shredded fabrics reminiscent of the ballet. Black feathers and ballet slippers, like the Molly Ballet Slipper pictured at right will also be hot. These comfy ballet slippers are also dyeable, so I believe we will be seeing a lot of these in that fabulous honeysuckle pink.
Natalie Portman is planning a wedding of her own, and is now sporting a glittering, diamond clustered engagement ring designed by fiance, Benjamin Millepied‘s former dancer pal and jewelry designer Jamie Wolf. But, will Natalie join in the ballerina themed wedding trend in 2011? Well, no details have yet been released about her wedding plans. But, if she does choose to jump on the trendwagon, let’s just hope she chooses a softer look than that of the troubled ballerina in Black Swan!
