It’s that time of year again. Time to break out those special-occasion serving platters, polish the silver, dig out the napkin rings, and dust off the party shoes. The holiday season – or, as I like to call it, the dance of the dinner parties – is so close I can already smell the roasting game hens.

Imagine this. You’re hosting the first dinner of the season tonight for a group of close friends. Guests are arriving soon.

But not to worry – you have the menu planned in advance and food ready to fly out of the kitchen. Luckily, everyone RSVP’d to your fabulous invites letting you know of any food requirements. Your friend Gerry’s new beau is allergic to peanuts, so stay away from the Skippy!

Spring into Color!

Posted on February 19th, 2013 by annalemberger

The color experts at Pantone have once again put out a decadent palate of color inspiration. The Spring 2013 Color Report brings a wonderful mix of soft hues and surprising bursts of brightness.  Poppy Red is one of my all-time favorite colors, and Greyed Jade is already making an appearance in spring fashion. Overall, the collection feels like a refreshing outdoor walk on a sunny spring day. With a nod to nature, I brought floral and feather elements into this week’s inspiration board.

Say it loud and say it proud with fun and creative bunting! These festive strings of colorful patterns and personalized triangles have been popping up in a lot of weddings recently. Comfort and Utility: Favorite things round up

Posted on November 5th, 2012 by annalemberger

Last week was full of apprehension, shaking windows, and relentless rain as I rode out storm Sandy with millions of others. Thankfully, D.C. was spared the full force of Sandy’s wrath – I didn’t even have to break out my flashlight. With D.C. shut down for two days, I had a lot of time to think about the supplies and other essentials I wish I had while hunkered down at home. Take a look at some of my favorite products at KTG.  And to all of our friends and family affected by the storm, we are thinking about you. Stay safe.

Utility

Everyone needs a good multitool or utility knife and a flashlight, especially in an emergency situation. This brilliant multi tool pliers even has a built in light so you can see where you are working!

One of the most essential needs during an emergency is clean drinking water. Days before Sandy, people were buying bottled water faster than the stores could stock the shelves. While I bought a few jugs myself, I also took advantage of our still functioning tap system to fill up jars and bottles, like these portable aluminum water bottles.

A Touch of Green Wedding Inspiration

Posted on July 15th, 2012 by annalemberger

I fell in love with the White by Vera Wang bridal gown collection at David’s Bridal when I first saw the pieces in all of their satin and organza glory at a bridal showcase last fall. The gowns are timeless, flattering, fun, elegant, and relatively affordable considering the designer label. I am especially smitten with the ivory ensemble pictured below. The added ebony, horsehair sash is a spunky twist on an otherwise classic A-line, and the lace appliqué is simply stunning. With a gown like this, the only other accessories you will need are a simple headband, a ring, and a dashing groom. You may also want to throw on a garter for a little fun later! Let your wedding gown be the centerpiece of an elegant ebony and ivory wedding. Mix in splashes of vibrant light greens to represent new life and new beginnings. Make sure your guests leave their advice and wisdom for this new life chapter in a personal wedding wishes envelope guest book.
