As a Wisconsin girl, I always considered food on a stick a novelty reserved for daring diners at the annual State Fair. Gems like cheesecake, deep fried butter, chocolate covered bacon and deep fried PB & J are just a few of the things fair goers could enjoy skewered on a stick this past summer.

In my last Simple Wedding Reception Menus post, I discussed some of the many options available for a wedding buffet. As usual, I got a little long winded and had to cut myself short. So today, I will finish up this discussion by telling you all about a couple of the latest trends in wedding buffets: the dessert buffet and the brunch reception.
A while back, I was discussing wedding dessert menus with some Facebook friends, and pies were suggested in place of wedding cakes. A distant cousin, Jennifer, says, “I think if I ever get married, I’m going to have wedding cupcakes…”
Wedding cupcakes have actually become fairly common in recent years. And, I think a cupcake bar would be really cute in place of the traditional wedding cake.
