Posted on November 18th, 2011 by annalemberger

Pumpkin is a quintessential fall flavor, and pumpkin pie is one of my favorite ways to use this versatile orange squash. While I crave the classics, there are some amazing and unique ways to use pumpkin flavors and smells beyond a fresh baked pie. Whether you’re getting ready for a fall-infused wedding reception, planning a festive party with friends or just want to mix it up at your Thanksgiving dinner, let these pumpkin creations dominate the senses.  Read more »

Wedding Roundup: Country Western Inspiration Board

Posted on November 12th, 2011 by annalemberger

Get out those lassos and roundup your man because it is high time for a perfectly rugged country western wedding. Horseshoe details display the luck you have had in love. The groom will look handsome in a stetson and string tie while the bride and bridesmaids stomp down the aisle in cowboy boots. Nothing says country western like a roaring barn dance. Book a live Rockabilly or Bluegrass band to make sure the line dancing lasts long into the night.

After parties are hugely popular right now. Jump on this wedding trend and do not let the party stop once the music does. Invite your guests to rest their feet around a campfire and make sticky sweet s’mores. Spread out blankets and screen an outdoor film like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Real Wedding Inspiration: Gwen & Kevin

Posted on November 5th, 2011 by annalemberger

As soon as I heard Pennsylvania, farm and goats I knew this would be an unforgettable wedding. I was so right. This October I had the privilege of attending a beautiful fall wedding on the coveted farmlands near Newport, Pennsylvania. I had never met Gwen and Kevin (I went with one of their guests), the bride and groom, but I feel I really got to know them through the personal details of their intimate wedding. The ceremony took place inside the home of close friends–a farm house and converted church. Being so far from town, and therefore most people’s hotels, the couple arranged buses to get the guests to and from the wedding–a nice touch especially for those who took advantage of the open bar.  There were so many beautiful details that brought this wedding to life, but nothing was more lovely than the natural, stunning fall backdrop, except of course the couple.

I asked Gwen to share her wedding inspiration. Here is what she said.

Falling in Love: Autumn Wedding Inspiration

Posted on October 21st, 2011 by annalemberger

Close your eyes. Inhale the crisp fall air. Drink in the last remaining warmth of the sun’s rays. Imagine yourself surrounded by loved ones, a multitude of brightly colored leaves creating a dramatic backdrop for your perfect autumn wedding. As the season’s change, so too does your life as you vow to love, honor and cherish your significant other all the rest of your days. My our fall inspiration board “leaf” you falling in love with a fall wedding.

The Details: Colors surround you this fall. Look to nature for a color palate of blazing reds, burnt oranges, rustic yellows, forest greens, birch whites and maple browns. Let candles illuminate your space with a deep, romantic glow. Have your guests leave their thumbprint on a canvass tree as a memory of your special day. See an example below from a real wedding.

The Drink: For your signature wedding reception drink, try the Corzo Ruby Red. Cranberries and cinnamon bring a tart and sweet element to this bright red drink.

The Music: Wedding Music Unveiled suggests brides opt for more subdued music for their ceremony in Fall. Visit their site for a list of autumn inspired song suggestions.  From My Wedding Music you can download and listen to a compilation of beautiful fall music from the CD The Harvest.

My favorite find is a list of best and worst wedding songs for fall from Gig Masters. Best song, Autumn Leaves (Frank Sinatra); Worst choice Hazy Shade of Winter (Simon & Garfunkel). And now you know.
