Spring into Color!

Posted on February 19th, 2013 by annalemberger

The color experts at Pantone have once again put out a decadent palate of color inspiration. The Spring 2013 Color Report brings a wonderful mix of soft hues and surprising bursts of brightness. ┬áPoppy Red is one of my all-time favorite colors, and Greyed Jade is already making an appearance in spring fashion. Overall, the collection feels like a refreshing outdoor walk on a sunny spring day. With a nod to nature, I brought floral and feather elements into this week’s inspiration board.

Spring Pastels Wedding Inspiration

Posted on April 9th, 2012 by annalemberger

I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely spring break and delicious chocolate Easter bunnies! I know I am. Spring is definitely in the air and gardens everywhere are bursting with color. Nothing says spring quite like beautiful pastel shades of pink, yellow, blue and green. Take a cue from nature and color your wedding with soft but vibrant pastel hues. These splashes of color are sure to put a spring in even your grumpy uncle’s step. If you start feeling surrounded by flowery perfumes, try a popular twist on the wedding bouquet with one made entirely of brooches. It is a great way to incorporate your “something old” and it will last forever!

Countdown to Spring: Wedding Cakes

Posted on February 21st, 2011 by Mandy Webster

Spring Wedding Cake from Cakes4occasions.Last week had me hopeful for spring, with the big thaw we had. Temps reached the 50s here in Wisconsin, and our snow was almost completely melted. But yesterday, the winter weather returned, as we knew it would. The ground is covered with snow, and it’s cold again. But that hasn’t stopped me from thinking about Spring! In today’s Countdown to Spring, I am showcasing some beautiful wedding cakes from Cakes for Occasions, located in Danvers, MA.

I love the spring cake pictured at left with its colorful flowers and budding trees. The tiny budding tree leaves put me in mind of the rebirth that is often associated with starting a new life with a new spouse. This would be a great addition to any spring wedding, but I could especially see this confection featured at a ‘green’ wedding or an Earth Day wedding.

Spring 1406 - From Cakes4occasions.comThis cake is covered with fondant and embellished with fondant cutouts. Fondant is used to easily cover wedding cakes with a nice, smooth finish. And, the cutouts make embellishing the cake fairly simple.

The climbing morning glories on the Cakes for Occasions cake pictured at right are another beautiful idea for your spring wedding cake.

I also love the birds nest theme on this final Cakes for Occasions creation pictured below. This colorful pair peers from the birds nest atop this white cake with raffia trim. Read more »

Countdown to Spring!

Serene portrait of bride, early spring wedding with first blossoms of springI’ve been down and out with the flu the past several days, the weather man is predicting bitter cold here this week… and I am ready to start thinking about Spring! While the groundhog may not have seen his shadow last week, let’s face it, I live in Wisconsin. We’ve got at least six more weeks of winter weather here, no matter what Puxatony Phil or any other groundhog has to say on the matter.

I hear ice encrusted Atlanta is expecting to hit the 70s later this week, and man am I jealous! However, instead of wallowing in the depths of despair over the weather, I’ve decided to spend the day today looking at warm weather pictures in an attempt to will myself into feeling better.

I’ve been digging around all morning, looking for stock photos and combing my favorite wedding blogs. The sun is shining in my office window, and I’m getting warmer by the minute!

I found this image, at left, of a bride dressed warmly for an early spring wedding, and I thought this was the best place to start my countdown to spring. I’m imagining my crocuses poking up, one by one, and the now frozen row of lilac bushes down the block from me… Those lilacs will burst to life one day soon, and they will become my impetus to get out and start walking every day again!
