Destination Graduation

Posted on April 30th, 2012 by annalemberger

It is almost May which means graduation for high school and college seniors is right around the corner! What better way to celebrate those years of achievements and hard work than with a fun graduation party. Knot the Groom has a plethora of party decor options that can be personalized with your grad’s name and school colors. If you are planning a small, intimate gathering with family and friends, a table runner is a wonderful way to spruce up a nice sit-down dinner. Most graduation parties, however, involve a lot of people coming and going throughout the day as they hop from one grad party to the next. With that in mind, consider setting up a buffet table with a larger, personalized table runner that draws attention and helps direct guests. Make sure to send invitations or announcements about two weeks in advance of the celebrations. It is always a nice gesture to send an invitation to people you know cannot make the party as well so they know of your accomplishment. And who knows, they may still send a card with some college (or life) fund money!

Gear up for Spring with the Eco-Themed Wedding

Posted on December 17th, 2010 by Mandy Webster

Yes, I know. It’s cold outside. The ground is covered in almost a foot of snow here in Wisconsin, while other parts of the country are frozen under a solid sheet of ice. While the holidays may be just around the corner, it’s not too early to start talking spring. We’re gearing up for the official 2011 wedding season, and we know you are too. So, let’s switch gears and start talking green! Environmentally green, that is. No matter what the weather, you can always add ‘green’ wedding décor to your list and throw an amazing eco-themed wedding.

Wedding Inspirations: Winter Wonderland

Posted on November 4th, 2010 by Mandy Webster

Winter wedding collage with silver accentsWinter is on its way. It’s time to start thinking about those winter weddings. Whether you’re planning your nuptials for this winter or next, there is a wide variety of things you can do to set the right tone for your winter wonderland wedding.

Silver and snowflakes are a perfect mix for the winter wedding. The snowflake wine stoppers at right are fascinating wedding favors which can double as table decor. The cobalt blue wine bottle pictured with these creative wedding favors is perfect for the winter wedding.

The lettered rhinestone crystal cake toppers are perfect with a white wedding cake and white roses. Create your own fabulous monogram from these shining letters crafted of sterling silver-plated metal and accented with genuine Swarovski crystals. Each scripted letter is accented with sparkling stones.

While the silver flame glitter evening shoe may leave your delicate tootsies a little cool in the winter, I couldn’t help adding them to this inspiration board. The glittery silver just looks so right with the silver snowflake motif. Choose these for a wedding venue where you will be indoors for the most part, and grab a pair of fuzzy UGGs or something similar to keep your feet warm in case you do need to venture outside.

Check this Out:

-Check out this winter wedding on the Style Me Pretty bridal inspirations blog. I love the bride’s fur wrap, and the green of the bridesmaid dresses really POP against the snow in the background.

-Speaking of wraps, the ‘little winter bride: vintage indie wedding style’ blog has a great post on wedding boleros, shrugs and caplets.

-This winter wedding inspiration from Elizabeth Anne Designs is absolutely elegant.  I love the natural elements of the evergreens and pine cones mixed with miniature white calla lilies.

Lighting Up Your Wedding Day

Posted on October 21st, 2010 by Mandy Webster

October 21st marks the anniversary of Thomas Edison’s 1879 lighting of the first  incandescent light bulb. This first light bulb burned in Edison’s Menlo Park, New Jersey laboratory for almost 14 hours, lighting the way for millions of artificial lights to come. Today, the use of lighting, both artificial and natural, has become somewhat of an art in the bridal industry.

Tiered head table with pink lightingThe wedding reception pictured above is an excellent example of carefully balanced natural and artificial lighting used to create ambiance. The bride and groom’s seats at the top of the dais are spotlighted, drawing attention to the newlyweds as the two most important people of the day. Lesser players will be seated at the lower seats amid dim, yet romantic candlelight.
