Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

Posted on January 13th, 2014 by annalemberger

The color experts at Pantone have named Radiant Orchid the 2014 color of the year. These color lovers chose Radiant Orchid for the way it “emanates great joy, love and health.”  Those are certainly wonderful traits to infuse into your own wedding!  Orchids are wonderful inspiration for any time of year but especially for a warm, summer ceremony. And nothing says summer like soft sand between your toes. Orchids make the perfect beach wedding flower, from bright boutonnieres to blooming, fragrant cakes.  If you can’t have a destination wedding in Hawaii, just close your eyes and inhale that radiant orchid smell and you’ll be transported to an island in no time.

English Garden Wedding Inspiration

Posted on September 7th, 2013 by annalemberger

Catch the last, warm rays of summer with an elegant English garden party inspired wedding. Plus, an English garden wedding might just help quell that anxious waiting for the new season of Downton Abbey. Imagine: happy faces of fragrant blossoms line the aisles. Plush, green grass blankets the grounds. More lovely, blushing flowers – rivaled only by the bride – burst out of every corner and detail from the bouquets to the cake.  Rose petals rain down on the new couple as they take their first steps as husband and wife. Delicate floral patterned gowns adorn the guests. Magical. And of course the hats. Don’t forget the over-the-top sun hats and parasols.

The British are especially particular about their gardens; so, to do the English gardening tradition justice, make sure to do your research on the best blooms for late summer and early fall. Try a fragrant perennial like lavender; it’s a great choice that you can use not only in your decor but also in your menu, as a garnish or flavor. Think, lavender cupcakes! For roses that bloom later in the year, go for – what else – an English rose variety.

Blooming Romance Wedding Inspiration

Posted on June 25th, 2012 by annalemberger

Romance is in the air this week with our flower inspired wedding board!  Vintage touches, natural decor, and pops of bright, floral color will brighten your flower-powered wedding ceremony and reception. Fragrant, frosted, fabricated – showcase a variety of floral elements and textures beyond the fresh cut. I love the idea of felt boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen. They look awesome and will last forever in your wedding scrapbook! Having trouble choosing a color duo? Who says you need just two! Work in a spectrum of warm shades from sunny yellow to rosy pink to vibrant red. A shock of teal makes a fun statement against the the warmer tones. If there is not enough brightness in your wedding already, unite your lives with a beautiful candle ceremony.

Spring Wedding Flower Arrangements

I love the colors in these spring wedding flower arrangements I saw this morning on Today. I especially like the “collaring” technique this flower designer uses near the end of the clip.

Many of these spring flower arrangements will look amazing in my all-time favorite Knot The Groom flower vase, pictured below. The Affinity Wedding Reception Vase has just that right touch of romance for the spring wedding. Read more »

“Green” Wedding Ideas: Flowers

Posted on February 10th, 2011 by Mandy Webster

These days, ‘green’ is in. No, I’m not talking about the color green. I’m talking eco-friendly. And, it probably wouldn’t occur to most of us that our wedding flowers may not be that green. Unfortunately, those mountains of tulips and roses found at so many modern weddings are often bad for more than just the environment.

Do you know where your beautiful wedding flowers come from?

In many cases, they are cultivated through the use of child labor. Laborers are often exposed to high levels of toxins, and the end result may be a beautiful wedding that is toxic to your wedding guests as well. Many flowers growers also create a vast carbon footprint in the cultivation of their products. Read more »
