Bring on the Bling: Wedding Jewelry Inspiration

Posted on July 3rd, 2012 by annalemberger

Today I read an NPR story about an “anti-cheating ring” selling on Etched on the inside of the wedding band, the phrase “I’m Married” leaves an imprint on the wearer’s finger if the ring is removed. Needless to say, the wedding ring has caused quite a stir. What do you think about this “anti-cheating ring”?

For jewelry that is a bit more traditional and positively inspiring check out some of my favorite pieces below. The Catherine Necklace and Earring Set will add sophistication to your bridal ensemble or make a great gift for your lovely bridesmaids. One of my favorite bridal trends is the headband–a simple yet equally stunning alternative to the classic tiara. Make a statement with a gorgeous Swarovski Rhinestone Headband.

Celebrity Wedding Updates: Brangelina, Hugh Hefner and more

Hugh Hefner and girlfriends

Could it be true? Is the Hef really trimming down his harem to marry just one? Image courtesy of

Surprise, surprise! It seems Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did NOT get married on Valentine’s Day after all. Did I call that one? And, not only did they not get married, but it seems there is trouble on the home front as rumors of Brad meeting up with ex, Jennifer Aniston fly about Hollywood. While I doubt Brangelina will ever make it official, I’ve tracked down a few other celebrity couples who are more likely to take the plunge:

  • The date is set for these young lovers… or… well, you know what I mean! I looks like Hugh Hefner is finally ready to tie the knot with Crystal Harris. They’ve chosen June 18, 2011 for their big day.
  • Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian have plans to marry on a private Montana ranch. The couple, who engaged in December, have not yet set the date.
  • It seems 30 year old Paris Hilton may soon be engaged to Cy Waits. The two were recently spotted shopping for engagement rings at New York’s Jacob & Co. This high end retailer also recently clothed Alicia Keys for her wedding day.

Who are your favorite celebrities? Comment below to tell me which celebrity couples you’d like to hear more on!

  • Did Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have a secret rendezvous behind Angelina’s back?
  • We may not know who will be designing Kate Middleton’s wedding gown for her upcoming royal wedding, but we now know that her wedding hat will be designed by hat maker Philip Treacy. Hats may be all the rage in the UK, but I think I’ll stick with bridal veils, thank you very much! Personally, I think Kate would look adorable in a birdcage veil from Knot The Groom!

Wedding Inspirations: A Wedding in Paris

Posted on October 8th, 2010 by Mandy Webster

A collage of romantic images from a Parisian themed wedding. What do you think of when you dream of Paris? The Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées? Maybe you dream of the pâtisserie or the aroma of fresh baked bread wafting from the boulangerie. Or, perhaps you imagine yourself a writer or an artist in the 1920s, meeting with your contemporaries at a street side cafe?

No matter what specific details come to mind when you think of this famous city, for most, Paris is the city of romance, the city of love. And what better way to plan a romantic wedding than with a Parisian theme?

The Bride

The birdcage veil pictured at right is one of the hottest trends for 2010 and is also the perfect choice for your Parisian Modern Chevron jewlery setwedding. Pair this with a retro 1920s or 30s style dress or glam it up with a modern couture sheath. If you choose a contemporary styled bridal gown, then you might like the Chevron Jewelry Set pictured at right. A retro gown would be better paired with vintage jewelry. Either choice would look beautiful and elegant with a strapless wedding dress. Complete the look with a simple handbag and couture shoes.

The Wedding Party

No bridesmaid wants to spend a fortune on yet another ugly dress to stuff in the back of her closet, never to be worn again. Instead, put your bridesmaids in a Chanel inspired ‘little black dress’ for your Parisian themed wedding. Better yet, let them each choose their own individual style and cut, and they will thank you for asking them to add this versatile piece to their wardrobe. Read more »

Bridal Beauty | Quick Hair and Makeup Tips for Your Wedding Day

Posted on October 4th, 2010 by Mandy Webster

There are many things to consider when planning your look for your wedding day. The dress may get the most attention, but your hair and makeup are equally important. When choosing the right bridal hairstyle for your big day, you should always talk to your stylist in advance, and be sure you let her know what type of veil, tiara or other headpiece you would like to wear. If you want an intricate style, your stylist may need to incorporate the head piece into her design.

Okay, sure… you may be able to choose a ‘plain Jane’ wedding hairstyle and show up at the salon the day of the wedding to get your hair done. But, if you want something special, you want to choose an expert stylist who can design a unique bridal hairstyle just for you. And this is something that requires both talented hands and an artful eye.

Samantha Fancher, a stylist at Shear Designs (located at 710 W Fayette Ave in Effingham, IL) says one of the most important things to remember when choosing a hair stylist/makeup artist for your big day is not to “pick someone who is going to just sit you down, get you done in 30 minutes, take your money and kick you out the door.” For your wedding day, you want to choose an expert stylist and/or makeup artist who will take the time to make sure you end up with the exact look of your dreams for your big day.

A few quick tips from Samantha:

  • Pick a hairstylist who is going to take the time to do a practice run and make sure you are happy with your hair; nobody needs to be crying over their hair on their wedding day.
  • Make sure you choose a stylist that will listen to you and take into consideration your dress style, veil and other hair accessories, the type of wedding, wedding venue, etc.
  • Never wash your hair the day of the wedding, as it will be too clean and soft to hold a curl. Instead, wash your hair the night before, but be sure it is dry before you sleep on it. Read more »
